Card Kits and Presto Papers

This is a photo of the previous scrap kit for members of the Stampin' Six groups. It contained card stock in colors from the new Subtles Collection--wild wasabi, pretty in pink, so saffron and baja breeze. It also included presto patterns designer paper from the summer mini catalog (pg 15, $11.95). This paper is white with a glossy design that shows up when you add ink. Also in the kit were matching ribbon, bitty buttons, and whisper white lattice die cuts made on the Big Shot. Well, I haven't done up a scrap page using the layout idea (also in the picture) but I did try a card....Remember the versamark technique, where you stamp a background in versamark and then pounce on chalks to reveal the pattern? I decided to try that technique with inks and the presto patterns paper. Not too bad, I think! The butterfly from Great Friend stamp set (pg 107, $17.95) was stamped in so saffron and cut out, and a bitty button attached with a glue dot. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to place the greeting inside the outline AFTER I cut it out with the matchbox die and Big Shot. Finished it off with pretty in pink satin ribbon (pg 13 summer mini).
Only a few weeks left until the new catalog arrives....! Can't wait to see the new stamp sets and designer papers!

Card Kit Layout

This card is from the last layout in the Stampin' Six Club's card kits. The members of the club received several pieces of Shades of Spring designer paper (still available in the occasions mini catalog, pg 25) along with coordinating card stock, ribbon, brads, and punched flowers. The layout for this card came from Tami Mayberry at Card Positioning Systems (#154). I used barely banana and certainly celery card stock, 2 patterns from Shades of Spring, the scallop trim border punch and punched daisies in pretty in pink. The stamped image is from Country Morning-- one of the free hostess stamp sets. I stamped it on watercolor paper using staz-on ink and then water colored it with my watercolor wonder crayons and blender pens. I love these crayons! They are an investment that was worth it! I like the bright look of this card--perfect for sending right now when we are all thinking about flowers!

New Cards, Past Layouts

I usually try out the layouts that I send with the card kits for all my Stampin' Club members and I was a little behind on posting over the past 2 months, so I pulled out the June and July card kits and gave them a try. Below is a card for the Card Positioning System layout #119. Have you ever checked out this site? They have awesome examples of all their layouts...lots of inspiration!I didn't use the supplies in the June kit, but instead gave an In Color combo a try. This is a bright card! I stamped part of the circle greeting from this set, plus the other butterfly on the inside:Supplies used: bermuda bay (base, matte for butterfly and ladybug circles), tempting turquoise and green galore card stock, garden whimsy stamp set (p 109, $26.95) and the coordinating wheel "whimsy" (p 106, $8.50), warm words stamp set (p. 141 $21.95), white craft ink, white embossing powder, bermuda bay ribbon and circle punches. All supplies (c) Stampin' Up! 1995-2009.

The layout from July (CPS #109) was a challenge! Here's what I came up with:Supplies used: petal pizzaz stamp set (p 113, $32.95) and greeting from great friend (p 107, #17.95). Pumpkin pie, melon mambo and rich razzleberry card stock and inks, razzleberry lemonade designer paper and pearl from the pretties kit.
Here's another take on the same layout, using melon mambo, pretty in pink, and so saffron: I used the one of a kind stamp set (p 130, $19.95) and the coordinating boho blossoms punch, along with buttons from button latte, brads, and melon mambo ribbon. Again all supplies (c) Stampin' Up! 1995-2009.

Great Friend

Here is a card that I made using some of the designer paper that was in the March card kits--bella birds. I like the soft colors for spring. The butterfly is from Great Friends (pg 6, $17.95) out of the Occassions Mini catalog. I stamped it in versamark, and embossed it with iridescent ice ep. Also used the so saffron ribbon from Sale-a-bration. Card stock: so saffron and bordering blue. I've also started doing the inside of some of my cards--Just keeping it simple, though! I stamped the butterfly in so saffron and added a strip of bordering blue and the dsp at the top. I'm sending this card to one of my new customers from a workshop that I did last month. Friendship

This month Stampin' Up! is running a promotion called "Get Connected" to encourage us to connect with our friends through paper crafts and cards. For every $40 of products that you purchase from the Occassions Mini Catalog, you can pick out an "under $10" stamp set from page 208 in the main catalog. Its a nice little benefit! So this card focuses on friendship, using the friendly words jumbo wheel (pg 81, $8.50). I ran the wheel over bordering blue cardstock with white craft ink, cleaned it and then used a chocolate chip marker to ink up just a part of the wheel for the "you and me friends" focal point. I rolled that onto pink pirouette card stock.
This is all to coordinate with the bella birds designer paper (pg 160, $9.95), which was in the March card kits for the Stampin' Six Club. I cut the flower out with my new BIG SHOT! Woohoo! I am so excited to have this! I used the flower, daisies #2 die and cut 2 of the small flower. The corduroy button(pg 176, $9.95) is the perfect finish for this card, with it's soft colors.

Another Card Kit Sample

One of my stamping club members sent this photo to me last night. The thanks card in the middle is made from her card kit. The button in the center of the flower is cute! Also, she made an adorable "bella" card and a little case for notecards. Thanks Michelle for sharing!

Stamping Club Card Kits

There were 2 card kits that went out recently, and for both I used a layout from card positioning systems--number 96. This is a sample made with kraft, chocolate chip, and the textured designer paper Parisian Breeze (p. 158, $11.95). I also used the baja breeze ribbon and new corduroy buttons in chocolate chip (p. 176, $9.95). The stamped image is from sweet stems (p. 99, $16.95) and I colored over the image with a blender pen and baja breeze ink. I like how this layout features the patterns in the designer papers.
This sample used paper from raspberry tart (p.160, $9.95). I used cameo coral and pink pirouette with whisper white card stock. The stamped image is from the Sale-a-bration set Botanical Blooms (FREE!) and the greeting is from a previous hostess set. I stamped the flower on pink pirouette, then again on white and cut it out, mounting it with a dimensional. The white lacy ribbon is from one of the new ribbon originals--"dress up" (p. 178, $12.95). I like the texture that it adds to the patterned paper.

I found out about a neat non-profit group that could use some hand stamped cards, so I'm sending the coral one above to them (along with others!). It is a Christian group that sews up totes and then gives them away to women with cancer. They also send out encouragement cards and pray for the woman, if she wants. There are other demos who are sending cards to them; if you would like to participate, let me know and I will be happy to send your contribution in with mine. Maybe you've accumulated some beautiful cards, and you could donate some of your "stash". They need to be general, thinking of you, with no writing on the inside. (The ladies at The Lydia Project will write the notes). Or maybe you know someone who could use a tote--just contact them with the name and address of your friend--it's free. What a great way to send a little encouragement to a friend facing cancer--

Card Layouts

Here's another card with the Love You Much stamp set. It uses supplies that were in the December card kits, for one of my Stampin' Six Clubs. I found the layout idea at Card Positioning Systems. They have ideas galore, so if you're feeling in a rut, head on over to their site and check it out. This card used sketch #93, which I included in the card kits, too. I colored the stamp set with markers to get the pink flower, red letters, etc, and then added a little dazzling diamonds glitter to the flower. Other supplies used: riding hood red, close to cocoa, very vanilla cs, candy lane designper paper, and the 3-heart punch.

I've started scrapbooking my sons high school photos, in preparation for him graduating in May.... so far I have 5 layouts finished, except for the journaling. I hope to post some pictures here soon!

September kit and layout

This card was made with products that went out in the September card kits to my local Stampers Six Club. The base is kiwi kiss, plus chocolate chip and tangerine tango card stock. The designer paper is from the hawaii papaya collection in the Fall~Winter catalog. I used the hostess stamp set Organic Grace and Heard from the Heart. Notice that I sponged chocolate chip ink around all the layers...even the designer paper. Thanks, Desiree, for reminding me that we can stamp on designer paper! I like the richness that it adds to this card. I finished it off with a clip and kiwi kiss/vanilla satin ribbon. The layout idea is below:
Here's another card I quickly made following this layout~
On this card, I used the designer paper autumn vine, which is in the holiday mini catalog. You can order from it starting tomorrow. Lots of fun fall and Christmas stamp sets! Tomorrow, (Oct 1st) you can go to www.stampinup.com to see the catalog on line. For the main image on this card, I used the oval punches to make a pumpkin. I punched them out of pumpkin pie and sponged a little tangerine tango around the outsides of each oval. The leaf and stem are cut free hand, then I cut a thin strip of paper and wrapped it around a pencil to make the tendril.

Carte Postale

I purchased Carte Postale last year from one of the mini catalogs because it was "different"--you know, not just more flowers and leaves. However, it is a challenge for me to use it! Well, I was blog-hopping the other day and saw this easy layout by Kristina Werner here (page down until you see the brown card). And, she used carte postale! So I had to give it a try. At first I tried to make the focal point without a metal edged tag, but in the middle of the project, I received this card from my friend Jenny:Isn't it just gorgeous? She used items that were in the January card kits--ginger blossom designer paper, groovy guava and ruby red cardstock, groovy guava double stitched ribbon, and build-a-brad. The flower is from In the Spotlight from the last catalog, along with the copper metal edged tag and copper brad. Thanks, Jenny for sharing!
I went back to my card and added what it was missing--a metal edged tag! I used almost amethyst card stock (and ink), certainly celery and almost amethyst print designer paper, wild wasabi double stitched ribbon and ink, a rhinestone brad from the ice collection, and of course, a metal edged tag.

Ginger Blossoms

I'm at my sister's house in Idaho for a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to play around with the stamping supplies I brought along.....in the meantime, here is a card from a stamping friend ...

Isn't this an elegant card? My friend Michelle made it with her card kit! She used the baroque motifs stamp set, and ginger blossom designer paper, groovy guava and ruby red card stock, sahara sand ink and the scallop punch for the focal point. The flower in the very middle is cut out from the designer paper and mounted on a "build-a-brad". It really makes the card unique and finishes off the design. She also used taupe grosgrain and stitched groovy guava ribbon.

Card Kit Inspiration

This gorgeous card comes from my stamping friend, Jenny! She used baroque motifs stamp set and lots of punches on this card, wild wasabi double stitched ribbon, along with a flower and pearl center from the Pretties Kit. Card stock colors are pumpkin pie, going gray, wild wasabi and rose red. (All products (c) Stampin' Up! 1995-2007).
Thanks Jenny for sharing your idea with the rest of us! I think I want to try a card using that layout....

A Few More Samples and a CARD KIT CREATION!

Below are the last two cards that we made at World Card Making Day. Again, I borrowed ideas and layouts from other demonstrators--which was very helpful! It is great to share ideas with each other! I mailed off all of our cards to Keri Sereika (click on her name to see how she does it). She has sent out more than 19,000 cards to military, and that was as of September. WOW!!! And thanks Keri!

































Below is a card that my friend Sarah emailed me.....she actually lives right behind me, across the alley! She used her cardkit to make this fabulous fall card~ thanks for sharing, Sarah! I really like your watercoloring.

Another talented stamper!

Another talented stamper has shared her cards with me, from the last card kit! My neighbor, Sarah, came over today to stamp a little and she showed me these great cards, so I just had to share them with you, too. Cute layout ideas!






















Here is a card that I made at the end of June, when this stamp set was being retired. I liked the simple layout and color combo (real red, pumpkin pie, bashful blue, and certainly celery). Today I used the same layout, but fall colors (perfect plum, old olive, more mustard) and the True Friends stamp set from the current Holiday mini catalog. I am loving this set!! I also used the swirl from the Season of Joy set. (See the discoloration at the bottom of the cards? That is a reflection from the countertop where I took the photo).

Card Kit Samples and Inspiration

Aren't these cards fabulous?! My good stamping friend Ann emailed the pictures to me. Nice layouts, Ann! Her cards used chipboard, cerise designer papers, textured cardstock, and notice the snow blossom punch on the 2nd card. I liked them so much, I copied her layouts and made 2 cards using the apple cider designer paper and True Friend stamp set from the holiday mini catalog.
