Out with the Old, In with the New!

A new announcement from Stampin' Up! last week--a Color Renovation is coming our way!
So when was the last time you made a card with yoyo yellow, only orange, or taken with teal?? I know when I look at the color families on page 7 of the Catalog, I think the bold brights all go together, and they kind of remind me of a box of crayons, BUT....I never used them on my projects! It was definitely time for SU! to make an update and get on trend with the colors that are popular today. Click HERE to print out the new color collections

In the new Idea Book and Catalog coming out July 1, there will be 5 BRAND NEW COLORS! Plus they are bringing back 10 of the retired In Colors from previous years. These are grouped into the 4 Color Collections shown above, and will be our new "core colors".

The 5 new colors will be
marina mist, daffodil delight, cherry cobbler, cajun craze, and early espresso.

The 10 returning "In Colors" are
melon mambo, rich razzleberry, soft suede, tangerine tango, wild wasabi, pacific point,
river rock, baja breeze, pink pirouette, and riding hood red

So I liked kiwi kiss and that's not coming back, and I loved cool carribean!! Darn that isn't coming back either. Alas, we must move on......

In the new Idea Book and Catalog, there will also be 5 new In Colors, just as in the past few years. These 5 colors will be around for 2 years now, instead of only one year. We'll have to wait and see what those will be. AND.... there will be KITS available so that you can purchase the updates to the collection without breaking the bank.

So now on to the difficult part of saying good-bye to the old colors--These colors will retire in June, so if there are a couple that you really enjoy using, you have time to stock up on card stock or buy a re-inker for your stamp pad. Here they are: Click HERE to see this chart

Current colors that will retire are
bold brights: glorious green, green galore, gable green, yoyo yellow, only orange, pink passion, pixie pink, orchid opulence, lovely lilac, and brilliant blue
earth elements: close to cocoa, creamy caramel, really rust, ruby red, cameo coral, summer sun
rich regals: bordering blue, brocade blue, ballet blue, taken with teal, handsome hunter
soft subtles: pale plum, blush blossom, apricot appeal, barely banana, mellow moss, sage shadow, almost amethyst, lavendar lace
and basic brown, going gray

It seems like A LOT, but I have printed out the New Collections page and I like what I see in the individual collections. Also, I know that much research went into these decisions. Many of these colors have NO sales in paper, ink, etc... which tells the company we just aren't using them! Stampin' Up! also used focus groups of demonstrators, along with the advise of their regular experts in the field of color and graphic arts.

So, here's the challenge: can we use up the card stock and embellishments that are retiring?? Let's be creative and see what we can do!
